A Child’s Christmas

Date Added: 27 July 2009

Once again its time to ask everyone in the Alresford area to participate in the Rotary District 1110 Christmas shoebox appeal which locally this year will be a joint venture of the Rotary Club of Alresford and the new Rotary Club of Four Marks and Medstead

Last year despite difficult economic times clearly having an effect local schools, churches, young farmers, women’s institutes and other individuals and groups responded magnificently enabling the Rotary Club of Alresford to contribute 587 boxes of presents towards a District total of 27,172 bringing joy and delight to 27,172 children in Tanzania, Montenegro and Romania many of whom would never previously have received any present.

As at the beginning of September, Years 7 & 8 at Perins, primary schools at Chawton, Four Marks, Medstead, Sun Hill (Junior and Infants) and Itchen Abbas, Princes Mead preparatory school, Patchwork nursery, Churches Together in Alresford, Swarraton and Northington W.I., Alton Inner Wheel and numerous individuals have already committed themselves to the shoebox scheme this year which again will “make Christmas” and more for children aged 0 -15 in Tanzania, Montenegro and Romania. Boxes should be packed and ready for collection by 5th November.
If either your organisation or you as an individual wish to be involved this year please contact jamespinniger@btinternet.com or phone James on 738788 for further information and full details. Please get involved and make even more children smile this Christmas!
