Alresford 10k and Fun Runs 2010 Over 400 runners and their families enjoyed the third Alresford 10k and Fun Runs organised by the Rotary Club of Alresford and the local schools, Perins and Sun Hill, on Sunday June 13th. The children’s races preceded the 10k main event and 4k fun run and were as competitive and enthusiastic as ever. In the 10k Julian Manning led the 265 strong field and was victorious for the second year in a row whilst Mairead O’Rorke, who has recently moved to Alresford, was the first woman home. Overcast weather early in the day gave way to sunshine and soaring temperatures for the race itself and the tough course through the rolling countryside around the town proved challenging for club runners and new initiates alike. 17 runners travelled from Enschede in Holland and proved a lively and most welcome addition to the field. Now firmly established in the local running calendar and famous for the great atmosphere on the day, next year’s races will take place on the second Sunday in June.
